I took private drawing lessons since 3years old , started oil painting when I was 10years old. Then I got interested in 3D world . Graduated The Woman College of Fine Arts in Tokyo Japan. My major was Sculpture. ←At the Tokyo Metropolitan Musium in UENO,Tokyo Those 3 sculptures are my work when I was in The Woman College of Fine Art Awarded Freshmans Blue Ribbon of GENTEN Exhibishon When I was 22years old I wanted be a sculptor. ,Since I have 2 sisters live in California,so I went to California. I lived in Orange county ,Califorenia for 18 month after graduation. I work at my sisters flower shop in Garden Grove& other shop in Costa Mesa as a flower desiner for living. I wanted go to art college in the United States. But my dream didn't come true ,I had to came back to Japan . I needed to come back ,because my mother sold old house & needed for help to look for new house and move in. How I met Cernit doll After came back from States, I gave up my art So I started work for the International Hotel (The New Otani) as a telephone operator for 12years. when I have time I made some dolls with papermache . like a look-a- like prince doll One day I had a chance to see the Prince( from Las Vegas)personator Show in Tokyo. I took my prince doll and show to the personator. He mentioned that I should do more dolls. and go to Las Vegas & show my dolls to the people who understands my talent. because there was The look a like doll musium in Las Vegas at that time. Both are Personator (not real legent) left: my friend Frank Moore told me "let somebody answer the phone and make more dolls." I have to thank him but don't know where he is???now. So I took my Michael Jackson doll there (because I went to Michael's concert in Tokyo&got the pamphlet w/all angles pictures so I could make him) the director was happened to be friend of Joe Jackson ,so got a invitation for the doll show in Las Vegas. So I went to Las vegas again with Michel Jackson &Mohamed Ali papermiche dolls in 1993 ←At theLas Vegas doll show Me with Micheal Jackson doll &Joe Jackson(Michael's Dad) Behind there some polimer clay dolls I am holding Mohamed Ali ↓ papermiche doll these pictures,are took in 1993 (20 years ago ) *you cn tell from my thick eyeblows At the doll show I saw some Cernit polimer clay dolls It was a shocking experience for me ,because those dolls looked so alive,skin,wrinke etc.. At the show I met a doll artist who　could show me how to make cernit doll the same year,visited her for 2 weeks and learn how to make dolls by cernit. I was so exited when I came back to Japan. But at that time nobody knows about Cernit clay or any kind of polymer clay for dolls. I decided to quit my job (telephone operator) Because I had a great chance to get a job as a sculptor in Hong Kong. I was hired by UCP Internation in Hong Kongl(One of the biggest company for silk flowers) Because my sister Michi Burrell AIFD(flower designer she lives in Hungtington Beach,Calif.) was already worked for the company .. She game me an information that there was opening for new sculptor . I took my Santa&Crown head and got one way air ticket to Hong Kong and got the job as a sculptor. I work there 1994to1996 in & out for 3years. About my cernit work in Japan There was some foreign books for Cernit when I came back to Japan but found out those didn't have enough informations . I had to think my own create way . I've been tried so many way to make dolls so realistic . challenging for All defferent sizes &defferent charactors →My largest work ENMA-DAIOU&me I got a order from Temple in Tokyo Head,hands,feets(shoes) are made by cernit Body is mostly wood used 17m of fabric for costume All hand made by me. When I started making dolls by Papermiche I only made look-a -like mostly male dolls. Now I can make Female dolls,Baby dolls, SantaClaus,Aliens,,, So my site has studios by different jenre go to to and jump to each studios . . also you can click pictures here to jump to each studios or picture file. I've been trying to let Japanese people to know about cernit clay dolls. I started my web site on 2005 & started my teaching class in Tokyo. Students come from all over Japan ,now. I also had a chance to have a lecture class of polimer clay at my old school The Womans College of Fine Art. . Took Me so long to IDEX Seems Everything have been all right ,,BUT Actually I couldn't concentrate my art work after I came back from China in 1996 Bacause I had to take care of my old mother who had heart problem & my mentary challenged brother he has Down's syndrome. My family was my mother , brother & me. I was in charge for everything. Since My mother passed away 10years ago and my brother found nice home 6 years ago I finally be myself so I should be able to start my life again But after that I got mentally& fisically overtired for 2 years. After I almost got over it I started having hip joints problem since 4 years ago since then I had to suffer from so much pain everyday It was so hard to walk or for even spend my daily life . So decided to get surgery to change my both hip joints to the artficial ones Got surgery on 2010 summer&2011March right before the big earthqueck I survibed (Tokyo was not so bad)and Took me for 2 years after surgery Finally I am able to walk without cane since the end of the last year. 2013 April Finally I got a table at IDEX . It was great experience to share time & space with such a super talented doll artists. After that I visited to my 2 sisters & their family in California.
